CLASS: Learn to Knit Socks in One Day!

Have you wanted to learn to knit socks, but don’t know where to start? Let’s get you going! This 2 hour class will teach you how to knit a baby-sized cuff-down sock. The techniques are the same for child and adult sized socks, but we can knit a baby sock MUCH faster. Once you understand how to knit your little sock, you’ll be ready to knit bigger socks!

These classes are limited to 4 students so everyone gets the one-on-one attention they need.

Pre-requisites: Familiarity with basic knitting techniques and stitches. If you can confidently knit and purl and maintain a consistent gauge, you’re ready to knit socks!

I am comfortable with magic loop on 32” circulars and double pointed needles and can teach either technique for this class, depending on your preference. 9” circulars aren’t recommended for this class because the socks are so small, but I can help you with that technique with larger socks if time allows. This class is for CUFF DOWN socks.

Your class fee includes 20g of DK weight hand-dyed sock yarn for your mini sock and a 100g skein of sock yarn for you to knit an adult sized pair later on, a set of knitting needles and some tools, and 2 hours of time with your instructor (that’s me, Lauren!). You will learn to cast on, then knit the cuff, leg, heel, gusset, foot, and toe. You’ll finish up with the kitchener stitch and weave in your ends.

You should be able to knit one mini sock in the two hour class as a confident beginner, or at least have learned the skills to complete it at home. If you aren’t quite able to complete your project on your own, you’re always welcome to stop by the shop during regular hours for help.
